User Reviews about Garmin City Navigator for Detailed Maps of the United Kingdom and Ireland (microSD SD Card)
I purchased this add-on a few weeks before first driving over in the UK - Scotland to be exact (I'm from the US, never driven on the left-side of the road before). It arrived over a week before I left. I fiddled with it before I left the US. The only harrowing issue occurred when I first got off my plane in Edinburgh - my Garmin couldn't pick up a signal. Turns out that no GPS's pick up a signal right near the airport. By the time I got to the rental car, the signal was there, as were the Scottish roads and directions to my first destination. This add-on was fantastic - really essential and alleviated the stress of driving in the UK (especially the windy Scottish countryside) for the first-time. Perfect for roundabouts if you're not used to them (tells you '1st exit, second exit,' etc). And whenever I was in a town or village where I wanted to do some sight-seeing or walk around, I turned the Garmin to 'pedestrian' mode and found all kinds of places to eat, shop, drink, and visit. One shouldn't be that excited over technology, but honestly this little add-on made my time in Scotland even more enjoyable. Highly recommend, especially for ignorant Americans like myself who are first-time UK drivers! -- Alleviates stress for first-time UK driving
The maps were great just type in venue in Rome and walk directly to it. We traveled thru italy and england never got lost, worth every penny -- great buy
The map is good and precise.
One day in the city of Sao Paulo I was near a shopping center and the navigator just did not display it !!
And It was'nt a new place ! Some places are just missing !!!
The radar cameras are not provided and it's nedded to downloaded separetedely ( too bad !) -- Good, but could be better
I got the Garmin Brazil map addition in SD card and was somewhat disappointed with it.
For starters, it doesn't come with any instructions at all. In fact, all I needed to do was insert the card in the GPS unit, but took me a while to figure that out b/c I thought I needed to connect the unit to the computer and install something. A little piece of paper with instructions would have gone a LONG way.
Then I finally got to use the maps in Sao Paulo, Brazil. You definitely have to take it with a grain of salt. My experience with the maps in the US is that you can trust the GPS unit to take you where you want to go with no problems. In Brazil, it's not quite like that... it sends you the wrong way on one way streets, tries to put you on busy roads (hard to get shortcuts that way) and that makes you have to pay a lot more attention to what you're doing. Once I put in a destination, I often have to change the route and wait for the GPS to re-route b/c the original route didn't quite work.
But... it's better than nothing. Sao Paulo is huge and without it I'd be lost for sure, so it's worth the money.
My final note is that even though it contains maps for the most important cities and probably all you'll need, it's not as thorough as the US and lacks a lot of coverage.
Overall, if you don't have an alternative in mind, it's better to have this than have nothing. -- Better than not having it
